Rob Stokes was elected Member of the NSW Parliament for Pittwater at the general election on 24 March 2007.

Rob married Sophie Harpur at Narrabeen eight years ago.  They now have three children – Edward, Anna and Louisa.  Rob is 34 years old.   Rob and his family own a home in Newport.  Rob grew up in Mona Vale, where his parents still live.  Several generations of Rob’s family have lived in the Pittwater area.

As electorate officer for John Brogden MP for several years, Rob has an excellent understanding of the political process and the major political challenges facing Pittwater at a State level.

As an active member of Mona Vale Surf Club for 15 years, Rob has patrolled Mona Vale beach and trained our volunteer lifesavers.  Rob is currently the Chief Instructor, and a Patrol Vice-Captain with the Mona Vale Surf Club. Through the local Surfrider Foundation, Rob was actively involved in the campaign to upgrade the Warriewood Sewerage Treatment Plant. Trained as a crewman with the Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol at Newport, Rob took part in monthly rescue patrols on the Pittwater for several years.

Rob has strong corporate experience, and has worked in a number of Pittwater businesses, including a leading Mona Vale law firm.  As an environmental lawyer with strong academic credentials, Rob has been active in volunteer work within the legal profession. Rob is actively involved with Pittwater’s churches and schools and is proud to have worked with our young people by training mock trial teams, and leading youth groups and holiday camps.

As an environmental lawyer, Rob is intimately aware of the pressures faced by our environment, and brings to his role as MP the skills, experience and understanding to fight for the effective protection of Pittwater’s special character.
