Rob Stokes MP Member for Pittwater today praised young people involved in the 7^th Annual YMCA Youth Parliament at Parliament House this week.

Pittwater is especially well represented with Jessica Priebee (former school captain of Pittwater High School and Pittwater young person of the year 2007) serving as Governor, and Rob Stokes (currently the youngest member of Parliament) in the Speaker’s role.

Young peoples from Schools all over NSW will simulate a real session of Parliament and will conduct a debate of the fictional “Youth Concession Card Bill 2008” today.

“Youth Parliament is a terrific idea, empowering young people by showing that there is nothing mystical about the NSW Parliament”, said Rob Stokes.

“Youth Parliament shows that democracy can be practical and accessible.

“It is wonderful to see something truly positive happening in the NSW Parliament. It is a joy and privilege to be involved”, Rob Stokes concluded.
