Many residents have raised with me their concerns about the unfairness of a recent health order providing an exemption for boat owners from outside Pittwater to access their boat for recreation – despite locals being locked down.
People haven't been able to see their families for weeks, weren't able to celebrate Christmas, and have been forced to close their businesses.
With so much sacrifice and hardship throughout our community – this was clearly unacceptable and unfair.
I spoke with Health Minister Brad Hazzard last night about the issue and I am pleased to advise the Health Minister is rescinding the Health Order regarding access to boats.
It’s one thing being subject to a local lockdown. It’s quite another to provide an exemption benefiting people outside the area who are fortunate enough to own a boat.
If Pittwater has to be locked down – then the same rules should apply – period!
