Member for Pittwater Rob Stokes has paid tribute to Pittwater’s first elected Mayor Robert Dunn.

Mr Dunn is fondly remembered for his relentless efforts in fighting to establish Pittwater Council out of the old Warringah Council, his astute knowledge of local issues, diligent work ethic, moral conscience and compassionate nature.

“No one displayed more passion and pride for Pittwater than Robert Dunn,” Rob Stokes said today.

“Robert had an unwavering compass for what’s right, and this was matched by his determination to achieve it.

“Very few people share Robert’s drive and tenacity – he was unique in many ways.

“Robert’s biggest enemy was always his watch. There were never enough hours in each day – but he certainly made the most of them.

“No matter how busy he was, Robert always made time for the issues, groups and people he cared about.

“I will always be grateful for the decades of support and guidance Robert provided to me so generously.

“Robert made an enormous contribution to our community and his legacy will continue,” Rob Stokes said.
